lost-wax casting

Lost-wax casting is a form of metal sculpture. The wax form was created by hand through manipulation of the material with various tools. The form was then cast in plaster and placed in a kiln where the wax melted out, leaving a cavity for the metal. I melted about 0.3grams of silver where the metal would enter the cavity with the help of the centrifugal casting machine. With a little bit of cutting and polishing, the ring is on my finger as an accessory today!
